From name changes, to the original faculty of the Normal School, to flames and statues, and everything in between. The history of the university is rich with an educational mission that spans over one hundred and fifty years. 

Did you know that the bulldog was inspired by a description the university football coach gave of his players? It was then installed as the mascot during the particularly rough 1914 season, because “because of his tenacity and ability to hold on and fight desperately until the end.
