Ceremonial Mace and Kirk Sword

Ceremonial Mace

A piece of local history from our own university. Northeast Missouri State University ceremonial mace that was carried by the marshal at commencements. Retired from use in 1997 after the name change to Truman State University.

Kirk Masonic Sword

Masonic Sword of John Kirk, a long time president of Truman State University. It has a knight’s helmet pommel, crucifix cross guard, and imagery of the crusades on the blade. This shows the Masonic order’s link to the Knights Templar.
