Kris
Multicultural Dagger Sword that is unique in its construction. Its jutted out hand guard with notches are meant to catch weapons. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization has said, “Kris are used for display, as talismans with magical powers, weapons, sanctified heirlooms, auxiliary equipment for court soldiers, accessories for ceremonial dress, an indicator of social status, a symbol of heroism, etc.”

Bird on pommel is believed to be a depiction of Garuda, a symbol of Indonesia and specifically Java. It is a Hindu figure that is the mount of Vishnu. Kris’ are hard to identify their point of origin because often they incorporate pieces from various different regions which is possibly why this one potentially has a Javanese pommel but is from Malaysia.
